Third Time’s the Charm

November 20, 2011

Thomas and I made a third trip to the Praying Monk because that is about all the only place we could go on half of a Saturday. Going in the morning turned out to be an awesome idea because we didn’t have to abseil in the dark. I led the first pitch and Thomas led the Monk.

Locking the bikes up and getting ready to go.

Continuing climbing.

I belayed Thomas and we walked over to the Southeast corner of the Monk. Thomas led the next pitch and then he belayed me. We both abseiled off the South face. It can be done with a 60 meter rope, as can the rappel for the approach pitch.

Thomas leading and me belaying below.

Looking around from the top.

Nice views.

Thomas appears to be very happy about the upcoming mostly free rappel off the Monk.

Thomas rappelled and took a picture of me at the top.

Continuing the rappel.

On rappel.

We rappelled off the first pitch, helped three groups of climbers to find the route, and rode our bikes back home.

Thank you! We try to have an adventure…even when we are stuck in the city.
